This afternoon is the last of this year’s Schlitz Kickin’ Country in-store performances here at Hymie’s – we’re excited to welcome back Jack Klatt, who has just returned from a tour out west and has been playing some of the songs on his not-yet-released solo album, Love me Lonely. Tree Party will also be here, which is their first performance in the shop so we’re pretty excited.
Jack and Tree Party are also on the bill for tonight’s show at the Turf Club – the triumphant return of Theme Time, a monthly revue hosted by our favorite bluegrass quartet, Pocahontas County. What is Theme Time? It’s live music and entertainment based on a new subject each month (past themes include money, women, trouble, etc) – tonight we will present a program of songs about elections!

(“Election Year Rag” by Steve Goodman)
I will be spinning election and politicking songs all night between sets, Russell Rathbun will have some words to say, and there will even be an elephant pinata and a donkey pinata for you to smash! There will be copies of a free mix CD of election songs while they last, too. It’s an early show (doors are at 7pm) and a low cover (five bucks) – just the ticket for weary swing voters and party fanatics alike!
