Our own weekend round-up

Garsh, there’s so much going on around the record shop this week that we’re feeling a little dizzy n’ overwhelmed (like when you try to read the label on a 45 while its playing). Here’s a round-up:

If you missed Swallows‘ LP release show here last night you can hear them again on Saturday at the Amsterdam Bar in St. Paul – they’ll be playing along with Megonia, Jezebel Jones and Venus DeMars.

Tonight Warpossums will be here for an informal, acoustic in-store performance of songs from their new disc, Small Towns. They would also like to invite you to a house show just down the road, where they will be playing again, along with friends Kill Country, a tourin’ band from Lincoln.

Tomorrow, Saturday morning, we’ll have a tent and tables out front (courtesy of our friends at Northern Sun) filled with boxes and stacks of 45s, all only 10ยข each! This is a one-day-only sale because we’ve got an enormous surplus from several recent collections, including a sweet radio station library from up north.

And Sunday is the this October’s third Schlitz Kickin’ Country show with bluegrass superstars Pocahontas County and honky tonk heroes the Bootstrap Family Band. The first two weeks of our annual country series have been a ton of fun, and we’ve heard great new songs from all the artists. Pocahontas County is sure to test out material they’ve been working on for the return of their “Theme Time” show, which returns to the stage on Sunday the 28th at the fabulous Turf Club.
