One night only – See “Record City” on 16mm at the Turf Club – Wednesday 1/4

Remember Record City?  It’s a 1978 comedy about a wacky record shop, and we discovered the soundtrack back in October and posted a couple of tracks here – we even found the first scene on Youtube. You can click on the title there to go back and see it.

But, sadly, we couldn’t find the video.  There was no hope to see the entire film, as it was never produced on videotape or DVD.  You probably thought we’d give up there, but that’s not the way we do things here at Hymie’s Records – Someone out there had to have saved a copy of this movie, and we weren’t going to give up until we found one…!

And we did, courtesy of St. Paul film collector Eric Likes.  What’s more, he was thrilled at our plan to share it with you.  And so next Wednesday night at 7pm we will present Record City from an original 16mm film.

Where?  Where else but the only place in town awesome enough to host the Hymie’s Record Roadshow every month – the Turf Club.  More details can be found on this event page or by calling the record shop.  We’ll be spinning and selling records just like we do every month at the Turf Club, and there will be great drink specials and food from the fantastic Nathan Nelson. The music will be provided by this month’s guest DJ Ryan Lovan.

We are so excited about this I don’t think we’ll get anything done between now and then!!
