On Thursday, April 21st, Hymie’s will offer FREE RECORDS DAY again, this time in the new room in the back. You have probably noticed that the weather never seems to work with our plans (It snowed on our last free records day) but this time you can dig in relative comfort.
This time around the record aren’t entirely free – We’re asking you to bring a donation to the new food shelf at the Free Methodist Church First up the block from the record shop/coffee shop complex. Pastor Samuel Lopez helped us out with some of our Record Store Day preparations, and while we were working he told me that he started the food shelf because there is not one in our neighborhood.
Sure, we’re going to let you swap a can of beans for a big ol’ beer box of free albums, but this is for a good cause and we hope you’ll bring a couple items or tell your friends to contribute too. As far as the free records are concerned, we are only posting this on our website and on our Facebook page – We prefer to keep this a give-away to our regulars who support us throughout the year.
So stop by on Thursday anytime during our regular hours, 11 am to 7 pm. I will be in the shop all day painting and preparing the new space.
Jump on our awesome new stage if you’d like – We’re already planning the next few in-store appearances!
And remember, food shelf donation = free records!
