Q: Wait, you’re moving? Where?
A: To the current home of Mill City Music, which will be moving to the second floor of 3820 East Lake Street to make room for us on the street level. Its just five blocks towards the river (East) on the north side, next to the Blue Moon Coffee Shop.
Q: Is the new space going to be bigger?
A: Oh, yes! In fact, we have already procured three additional record browsers for the shop, and are working on building more. The retail space in the new shop is going to be 20-25% bigger when we finish all the construction there, which means several sections of the shop are going to be expanded. These include classical and soundtracks, rock and modern rock and jazz. We hope to build additional browsers for 45s as well and increase the volume of them we have available for perusing, which will make a lot of our regulars very happy.
Q: Can I have…?
A: Some fixtures and display items may go on sale April 17th, Record Store Day, which is our last day in the building at 3318 East Lake Street, but we won’t hold anything for someone and can’t guarantee what’s going to be sold and what’s going to be moved.
Q: Can I help?
A: We have a pretty solid pool of friends and volunteers lined up to help, and really appreciate all the offers.
Q: Any big moving sales planned?
A: Yes, our regular dollar sale will be the last Saturday of March, the 27th, and there will be a mountain of great vinyl down there because we don’t want to move everything. We’re working full-force to fill the dollar sale room with sweet deals for you. AND there will be an enormous sale in the basement underneath the shop on Record Store Day, April 17th, which will also be our last day open in the old building. Tens of thousands of records to dig through and all of them will be a QUARTER! You read that right – Its the biggest sale in Hymie’s history!
