Wow! Thanks for posting this list. I find that I can't think of many other sequels (and I feel like I'd be cheating to do a Google search.) Jethro Tull's "Wondering Again" might be a stretch, as it lacks clear narrative continuity. I still think "Ashes to Ashes" is more than self-referential, but continues the story. I enjoyed the Peter Schilling tune, which I had forgotten about. I'll listen to more of this stuff, to see what I think.

John Lennon wrote, in the song 'Nobody Told Me,' "There's a UFO over New York and I ain't too surprised."

'Ashes to Ashes' is easily my favorite song sequel of all time. How many of those are there (not including instrumentals)? That could be a list for one day.

Another good alien song, The Aquabats' "Martian Girl."

I wrote a song inspired by Bradbury's 'The Martian Chronicles' and sent the lyrics to Ray Bradbury. He wrote back and said something or other nice about it.

We were just in Seattle for vacation. We didn't make it to Holy Cow records, but we visited Golden Oldies Records and Bop Street records, both in the Ballard neighborhood. Both stores had an unbelievable selection of 45s.
